Mutual Aid

Indivisible TAG formed to support the marginalized groups in and around our area, fostering growth and community awareness. One of our main goals is to provide support to the people left behind after ill conceived legislation has placed increased restrictions on nutrition programs. Many people are living on the edge of the poverty line or are struggling to exist in a society which rejects or outright shuns their existence.

Our commitment to the community is through service. See a need, fill a need.

Right now, that is food insecurity and lack of access.

We are working on different strategies based on the Indivisible Guide’s mission and vision while partnering with local organizations in and around the tri-state area on two initiatives. First, we have a partnership of support with La Paz of Chattanooga. This involves supporting their collection drives of food, clothing, and supplies that are needed but often hard to access due to the oppressive stance toward immigration.

Second, Indivisible TAG is a part of a collaborative effort called the Community Pantry Collective.  This is a partnership between Indivisible TAG, the Seed Theatre, the Blue Pantry, and the Chattanooga Bridge Brigade. By providing volunteers needed to complete the pick up and sorting, we can help deliver food and hygiene items to struggling populations. Our work involves processing food sourced from distributors of produce and baked goods, as well as facilitating donation drives.

Our goal is to reduce food waste by saving overstock items that would normally go to the landfill. Right now, there are close to a dozen active community pantries just in the Hamilton County area.  By working with the other service organizations, we distribute shelf stable food, fresh produce, and hygiene items that everyone needs but are increasingly hard to afford.
